JAMES Chamanga will be part of the CECAFA squad that leaves tomorrow for the Orange 2009 CECAFA Senior challenge cup in Kenya following clearance from his club.
Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) treasurer Bonnie Mwamelo told The Post On-line in an interview that Chamanga who had earlier been requested to return to base by his Chinese club Dalian Haichang was part of the 20-member team heading to Nairobi for the tournament.
“The teams leaves, tomorrow and James Chamanga is part of the squad, this is after his club indicated that they will not start their pre-season training until December 20.”
“That gives Chamanga the time he needed to be part of the CECAFA squad for the tournament that runs from this Saturday (November 28) to December 13,” he said.
Mwamelo who is the delegation leader for the Zambian team said 24 players were available for consideration at the tournament but said only 20 would be traveling as per CECAFA rules and regulations.
Zambia is in group “A” at the tournament with hosts Kenya, Djibouti, and Ethiopia. The Chipolopolo boys won the CECAFA championship in 2007 and lost the title to Uganda last year.
