AFRICA Boxing Union (ABU) champion Joseph 'No Pressure' Chingangu's cancelled defence title fight against Nigerian Adewale Abbe will now be held next Sunday at NASDEC.

Chingangu’s manager and promoter David Sinkala confirmed in an interview yesterday that ABU has since been notified that the fight against Nigerian challenger Abbe will be staged on November 29.

“The fight will be held on Sunday. We will just transfer the ring which Esther Phiri will use to our venue,” he said.

Asked if all the ABU requirements had been met, Sinkala said he did not want to go into details but that the fight is set for Sunday.

“I don’t want to go into details for now but ABU is aware that the fight will now be held on Sunday (November 29),” he said.

“We need to be assisted with funds to avoid being embarrassed again. We are appealing to the corporate world to assist us,” he said.

ABU cancelled the fight after the promoter DS Stables failed to meet major requirements before staging a fight.

The stable also failed to raise purse money for the boxers including Chingangu's medical report that was not submitted on time while his contract was incomplete.

Meanwhile, Women International Boxing Association (WIBA) president Ryan Wissow is expected to arrive on Wednesday ahead of Esther Phiri’s WIBA light welterweight title fight against American Terri Blair set for Saturday in Lusaka.

Wissow confirmed in an interview yesterday that he would arrive on board a South African Airline at 21:00 hours to officiate at a fight billed for Mulungushi International Conference Center this weekend.

"I arrive on November 25, 9 pm on SA flight 66," he said.
Wissow said he expects Blair and her coach William Jarvis to arrive on Wednesday too.
Blair has a record of 27 fights in which she won 11 with six knockouts, lost 14 and drew two while Esther has a record of 12 fights won 10 and lost one.
