Mzamo’s sexual act in Big Brother concerns Malawi Council of Churches
THE Malawi Council of Churches (MCC) members have petitioned against that country's Big Brother Africa house-mate Mzamose Chibambo and have written to Gender, Women and child Development, minister Patricia Kaliati over their concerns.
But after assuring MMC that government would act on their petition, Kaliati said it was unfair for people to show that they were holier than thou by condemning Mzamo's behavour.
In their petition which is calling for government to withdraw the house-mate from the continental reality TV series, MCC stated that Mzamo was doing everything meant to be done in secret in a bedroom.
“She is mockingly doing it public,” stated Agnes Mkoko, chairperson of the group.
Mzamo has been labelled all sorts of names for having sex a month ago with Mozambique's Leonel who has since been evicted from the competition.
However, not everybody is calling for Mzamo's premature eviction.
Minister Kaliati told BBC Africa this morning that ladies of Mzamo's age in malawi were doing worse than what Mzamo was doing in the house.
“It is not fair for people to single her out, so many girls do the same here, She is an individual person and different from anyone else. How many girls do these thing? How many women do we know who smoke and drink? So just because Mzamose did it and people saw via TV does not mean she has to be condemned, she is playing the game so that she can win the same money other youths want to win from that competition,” she said.
“If they feel, that what Mzamo did was too much for the young ones, then they are to blame for allowing kids stay up so late instead of going to bed and prepare for school the following day,” she said.
Other Malawians who commented on a similar story by Nyasa times said Mzamo was just being herself.
“Mzamose is very real. She is telling the world that such 'games' are available in Malawi. Her smoking habit is also a witness to her real self. Whether you like it or not, Mzamose is a Malawian.”
“If the government of Malawi says no Malawian in the BBA it can be possible. So she is representing Malawi and we are behind her,” said another.
The Big Brother Africa reality show comes to an end on December 6, where the last surviving house-mate will take home US$200, 000 (almost K1. billion).
Meanwhile, Angola's Emma and Nigeria's Geraldine are up for eviction this Sunday.
Head of house Itai from Zimbabwe did the obvious by saving himself after being nominated for eviction and replaced his name with Geraldine.
