SEVEN foreign-based Chipolopolo players including captain Christopher Katongo are expected to arrive today for residential camp at Chrismar Hotel in Lusaka to begin preparations for the 2010 World/Africa Cup Group C qualifier away to Rwanda on November 14.
Team manager Solly Pandor confirmed in an interview yesterday that players expected to jet in include strikers Katongo of Arminia Bielefeld in Germany and Given Singuluma of TP Mazembe in Democratic Republic of Congo .
Others are Emmanuel Mayuka of Maccabi Tel Aviv in Israel and Signs Chibambo of Heartland in Nigeria, Willam Njobvu of Hapoel Kiryat Shmone in Israel as well as the South African-based duo of Noah Chivuta of Maritzberg United and Joseph Musonda from Golden Arrows.
Pandor said Chipolopolo will leave for Kigali on Thursday ahead of Saturday’s crucial qualifier against Rwanda.
He said the local players who will get into camp today are Zanaco defender Thomas Nyirenda, Green Buffaloes’s Dennis Banda and Hichani Himoonde of Zesco United and clubless midfielder Stopilla Sunzu.
Pandor said goalkeepers Kennedy Mweene of Free State, Kalililo Kakonje and Chintu Kapamba of Amazulu, and Emmanuel Mbola of Pyunik Yereven in Armenia are expected to arrive tomorrow.
Others arriving tomorrow are Francis Kasonde of Al Suwaiq in Oman, Felix Katongo of Mamelodi Sundowns from South Africa and Jacob Mulenga of FC Utrecht in Netherlands.
