Congolese Rhumba maestro Koffi Olomide is set to launch his new album Skol Mandramanda in Zambia on August 27 and 28 at Lusaka's Taj Pamodzi Hotel and Barclays Sports Complex respectively.

Confirming the development to the Weekend Post, Chez Ntemba-Zambia promoter Suke Chile said Koffi, who visited the country last year in July for shows, will be in the country because of the support he has enjoyed over the years from the Zambian fans.

"Like we have said before, Koffi considers Zambia his second home and he is always liking the support. He has confirmed that he is coming in August to launch his new album at Pamodzi on 27. He will also have a family show on 28 at Barclays (Sports Complex) " he says.

" He has promised to give a good show and because of the shows last year, he is thanking the people for the support and wants to continue the relationship he has developed in Zambia. The shows will be affordable like always and he will come with a full band and his dancing queens."

The 52-year-old singer has continued to release one hit after the other while being faithful to his self-proclaimed Tcha Tcho style which has in recent times bent towards modern tunes. Tcha Tcho is a slower, more sensuos kind of Soukous.

In the early 90s, Koffi became popular especially in Zambia with albums like Noblese Oblige and Magie. From then on, Koffi has appeared to have been going from strength to strength as his popularity shot straight through the roof especially in 1995 when he released his most succesful album V12. The following year, he collaborated with one of his mentors Papa Wemba to produce the album Wake Up. Then came the controversial La Loi which sold widely perhaps because of its controversial nature.

With his most recent works in the collection of Skol including the smash hit Mandramanda, Koffi continues to dominate most music charts with interesting videos.
