TP MAZEMBE have complained of alleged interference from ‘a big fish’ at the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) in defender Emmanuel Mbola's prospective trials in Europe at Italian Serie A side Juventus.
And FIFA has said that Mbola's player status case involving Armenian side Pyunik Yerevan and Division One north side Mining Rangers was still under investigation.
In a telephone interview from Zimbabwe on Friday, a senior TP official who did not want to be named indicated that the club had decided to report Mbola to world football governing body, FIFA, for abrogating contract agreement.
The official said Mbola signed a US $300,000 contract with the club and the money was paid in full.
"We have information that Emmanuel Mbola is going to Juventus football club in Italy and a big fish from FAZ is taking him. We hear that a lot of money is involved," the TP official said from Harare where TP are ahead of today’s opening Orange CAF Champions League Group A clash against hosts Dynamos at the National Stadium.
“We are very disappointed that Mbola has decided to go against the contract. Manning Rangers manager is the one who is working with some people from FAZ to take him to Italy and they will be leaving on Monday. We have even informed his father that he is not with but we are very disappointed.
“We have spent a lot of money on the player and such behavior should not be condoned. What Mbola has done is an offence and we are reporting FIFA.”
Meanwhile, FAZ communications officer Erick Mwanza has refuted TP's claims that an unnamed senior official at Football House has a part in the ongoing Mbola saga.
Mwanza said FAZ did not own a player and it was best to ask Mbola and his manager on what was going on because Football House was not aware what was going on.
"FAZ is not aware of what is going on with Mbola. FAZ doesn’t own any player so we don’t know..ask Mbola and his manager," Mwanza said.
However, Mwanza later backed down, saying FAZ promises to get the truth over the matter and inform the nation.
And FIFA said in a response to a media query that the Mbola case would be expedited after the FIFA World Cup.
"We are aware of the Mbola case. It is under investigations so we can't issue a comment further," FIFA said in an emailed reply to a media query over Mbola's player status.
