Editor,
As much as we appreciate the move taken by the police command to remove roadblocks on our high ways to curb rampant corruption by traffic police officers, there is also need to look at the security side of the issue.

Crime has now increased on our high ways and bus drivers are now overloading buses at will. Copper theft on the Copperbelt has gone up as the jerabos now know that they have safe passage. Just recently, a car was stolen from Lusaka and was only intercepted in Chililabobwe. The thieves managed to drive freely from Lusaka to the Copperbelt, because of no check police points.

My appeal to the police chief is that he brings back those road blocks which were in strategic locations like Sabina, Kafue bridge on the Ndola - Kitwe high way, Kafue bridge on the Solwezi-Chingola turn-off, welcome to Luanshya and Chisamba.
