A WITNESS on Friday told Lusaka magistrate Jennifer Bwalya that she saw a man who is appearing in court for unnatural offence kissing a dog before he had sex with it in Mtendere compound in August.

In this case, Michael Bwalya, 49 of Mtendere compound is alleged to have on August 31, 2015 had carnal knowledge of a dog.

Saliya Banda, 23 testified that on the material day, she found Bwalya kissing and touching the teats of a dog near her home.

Banda told the court that around 22:00 hours, she stood at the door of her house and that  because there was moonlight, she could clearly see what Bwalya was doing to the dog.

“He started by kissing the dog while touching its breasts. Then he turned the dog by force and put his fingers into its anus. After my sister-in-law and I called the dog, Michael, who was identified by our tenant, also called the dog and it followed him,” she said.

Banda said Bwalya then proceeded to have sex with the dog.

“At this point, we called people and then we took him to Mtendere Police,” Banda said.
She said at the police post, they were advised to take the dog to the Veterinary Department for examinations.

After Banda’s testimony, the prosecution sought to have Bwalya examined at  Chainama Hills Hospital because it appeared he had a psychological problem.

Magistrate Bwalya granted the application and ordered that a report on the findings be availed to the court.
